The Painting Center is proud to present Open-In, an exhibition of works by Seattle-based painter Kimberly
Trowbridge. This selection of paintings combines abstract and figurative works that express the particular
poetics of an internal space. Sometimes the space alone creates an analogy of experience— a box, a house,
a window, the canvas. In other works, the space acts as a container, holding the potential means for
narrative: a figure, a curtain, a letter, a hand.

For Trowbridge, painting is a way of making visible the hidden story of the mind.

Open-In is Kimberly Trowbridge’s first solo show in New York City.
