Making Your Own Luck is a panel discussion about the range of opportunities that are available in the arts community. Panel participants will talk about artist- led galleries and cooperative groups, personal histories and their own experiences making their way as artists within this community. The panel will examine how various collaborations and associations, operating on a not-for- profit basis in the for-profit art world, can be a crucial source of support for artists.

Panel participants will include Phyllis Floyd (Zeuxis), Ken Kewley (www.kenkewley.com), Janice Nowinski (Bowery Gallery), Bill Schmidt (Ab8), and Shazzi Thomas (The Painting Center). The moderator will be Emily Sessions.

Making Your Own Luck is presented in conjunction with the Zeuxis exhibition The Common Object, on view at the Meyerhoff Gallery through March 11.
