Emily Berger, a graduate of Brown University, received an MFA from Columbia University and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. She has taught at The Pratt Institute and other NY cultural institutions and teaches at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. An abstract painter, her work is inspired partly by the landscape of Brooklyn where she lives and works. She is a member of American Abstract Artists and curated the exhibit “Nature Abstracted” at The Painting Center. Her work has been exhibited in NY and the Northeast as well as at The Museum of Modern Art in Bogota, Colombia. She had a solo show of recent work at The Painting Center in May and is included in the National Academy Museum’s Annual Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary American Art, 2008. Her work in that exhibit has been awarded the John Hultburg Memorial Prize for painting.
