Jo Ann Rothschild is an abstract painter who works on both an intimate and a public scale. Her BA is from Bennington College. Her MFA is from the combined program of the Boston Museum School and Tufts University where she concentrated on Fra Angelico’s Fresco cycle in San Marco in Florence. She earned a grant in painting from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and was the first recipient of the Boston Museum of Fine Art;s Maud Morgan Purchase Prize. She has had one person exhibitions in Boston, New York, Chicago and Havana. Her work is in the collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Fogg Museum at Harvard, The Rose Museum, The DeCordova Museum, Tufts University, M.I.T.,Mills College and the Taller Graphico in Havana, Cuba. She founded the art program at The Pine Street Inn, the largest homeless Shelter in New England, where she continues to teach.
