Robert Bunkin is a figurative painter, art historian (faculty of Parsons School of Design) and freelance curator. In 2005 he curated About Faces: Portraits Past and Present at the Snug Harbor Cultural center for the Staten Island Museum. He has an MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, where he taught himself fresco painting. His undergraduate degree is from the CUNY Baccalaureat Program. He has studied fresco technique with James Hyde, Rhoda Yohai Andors, Stoney Conley and at the Tintori School for True Fresco in Vainella, Italy under a Parsons Faculty Leave Grant. He has exhibited widely in New York City, nationally and in Italy. He has been the recipient of several grants from the Council for the Arts and Humanities of Staten Island.
