Galen Cheney received her MFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art and her BA from Mount Holyoke College. She has received several awards including the Artist Resource Trust Award from the Berkshire Taconic Foundation, a residency fellowship to The Millay Colony, two full fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center, and inclusion in the competitive publication, New American Paintings. In 2013, she was nominated for a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant in painting. Her work has been exhibited widely in the U.S. and in Montreal, most recently at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site in Cornish, NH, and the Fleming Museum at the University of Vermont. In 2014, she will have solo shows at AVA Gallery in Lebanon, NH, The Vermont Studio Center, The Vermont Supreme Court, and Green Mountain College. Her work has been featured in a variety of publications, including Art New England, New American Paintings, Whitefish Review, and New England Watershed Magazine. She is currently represented by Gray Contemporary in Houston.
