Lois Dickson: Source+
Exhibition Dates: October 28 - November 22, 2014
Reception: Thursday, October 30, 6 - 8 PM
The Painting Center is pleased to present an exhibition of recent paintings by Lois Dickson. Lois Dickson makes paintings in response to images that appear in her imagination. A painting can evolve thru undisciplined, gestural strokes on the canvas inspiring natural or manmade motifs or from the studying the surfaces of previously created works.
She states: "A painted surface can yield images in its surface. The surfaces can be recently painted, reworked or even overworked. I find it fascinating to just look and look until I discover the variety of images the painted canvas reveals. Discovering these motifs and elements, and how they relate to the canvas and to each other in scale, color, texture, and space, inspires a painting. This process of making a work of art is very new for me. I have in the past looked to the natural or man-made world for source material."
