William H. Thielen
Thielen is a full-time studio artist, living and working in Carbondale, Illinois. He holds a B.S. and M.F.A. in Art. He works in painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, mixed-media, and large-scale installation. He has had over 100 exhibitions throughout the US and Canada.
“Thielen works in the abstract, focusing on the tension that is created when opposites are thrust together. They need each other to define each other; there is no room for compromise. Abstraction requires trust in one’s emotions, the conceptual, and the intuitive language. These pieces are about the essence of experience in a post-modern world.”
