William H. Thielen
Thielen is a full-time studio artist, living and working in Carbondale, Illinois. He holds a B.S. and M.F.A. in Art. He works in painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, mixed-media, and large-scale installation. He has had over 100 exhibitions throughout the US and Canada.
The constant evolution of my paintings have brought my work to a different side of painting. The works are constructed of yarn on canvas. They create a painting-like quality, but venture into a new territory of depth, emotions, weight and illusions. These “new” materials are a vehicle to push the social narrative behind my art.
