JOHN LEE
John Lee is a painter and teacher living and working in Williamsburg, Virginia. He has worked in traditional genres such as still life and self-portraiture, but his primary subject matter is interior spaces.
“My painting is an attempt to unify observed color divisions. There is no reliance on chiaroscuro. It is my hope to tame, but not destroy, the exhilaration of color that I find in neutral colors. The subjects, the views that I paint, are primarily 'discovered'.”
