“I hold an MFA in Painting from Columbia University, and a BA in Visual Art from Bennington College. Fellowships and awards include Skowhegan, VCCA, Puffin Foundation, and The Artist's Fellowship Inc. I have an extensive exhibition record, and reviews include the New York Times and Art in America.
In my work, I am interested in pushing the boundaries of figuration, and creating pictures that investigate aspects of human experience. I make surreal, dream-like paintings that are characterized by vivid color, distortion, and uncanny juxtapositions. My paintings are meditations on identity (in particular female identity), memory, the body, nature, and place. In addition, I am interested in the concept of time, and opposites such as trauma and resilience, and fragmentation and wholeness.”
