Marina Burana

Marina Burana is a painter and puppeteer/puppet builder. She is also a facilitator of participatory art projects for different types of communities. Marina studied at the Art Students League of New York and holds a BFA (Painting Major) from Taipei National University of the Arts. 

Marina fuses fantasy and reality through figuration and nature. She invites friends, family and complete strangers to sit for her; as well as her six-year-old son to paint parts of her paintings. She slowly builds up the settings in which to place her sitters in a narrative of longing, neglect and fancy.
