Gina Occhiogrosso's work has been exhibited at The Painting Center, Kathryn Markel Fine Art, Pierogi Gallery, Bernay Fine Art, The Tang Teaching Museum, and Cura Contemporary, Morgan Hill, CA. Residencies include Elizabeth Murray Artist Residency, MacDowell, Constance Saltonstall, the Ragdale Foundation, The Vermont Studio Center, the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Inc, and Millay Arts.
These stitched paintings use deliberate and chance recalibration of shapes to reveal new, unexpected interpretations of form. In response to the cut and sewn areas, I introduce painted geometric forms that appear to be disrupted by more solid, washed regions—which, in fact, are merely adjacent to them.
