joseph stabilito
Joseph Stabilito was born in Philadelphia where he attended the Tyler College of Art campus in Elkins Park, Pa. The Sande Webster gallery gave him his first show in 1982, after being showcased in the windows of Bonwit Teller, a prominent women's department store. The following year he moved to New York City, and found himself at ground zero of a burgeoning East Village art scene. Influenced by that hotbed of creativity, Stamito has continuously pushed the boundaries of his abstract style. He has had solo shows in Germany, Italy, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Texas, and Boston. He has participated in various group exhibits, including at the James Cohan gallery, The Edith Blum Art Institute, FIAC in Paris, ArteFiera in Bologna, and others. Reviews have been published in Art In America, Architectural Digest, and others.
“Every painting is a unique conversation with color, drawing, and shape-making. I'm always exploring new ways to handle paint, and develop technique. I'm influenced by color, nature, everything.”
