I am based in Harlem, New York. I’ve exhibited my work since 1982. I work intuitively from an expansive pool of inspiration. With roots in abstract expressionism, my work is steadily gestural and animated. My palettes range from murky to explosive, but always with pronounced depth and emotion.
Everything I’ve learned about composition, line, and color are in service to my work. Paint is pooled, poured, and scraped; shapes are put down then obfuscated; gestures marks are drawn instinctively. Each piece is an evolving narrative. I’ve experimented with all manner of materials for my work, such as glass, metal, wood, wax, beads, and glitter.
