David Guez
David Guez (b. 1954, Tunisia) is a self-taught painter based in Jerusalem. Working in large-scale oil on canvas, he explores presence, silence, and memory through layered abstraction. Recent highlights include solo exhibition Spiritual Landscape (The Hub Gallery, Tel Aviv, 2025) and selection for the Mark Rothko 2025 International Painting Symposium.
My large-scale oil paintings explore presence, silence, and memory through layered color, erasure, and rhythmic brushwork. In a screen-saturated era, I return to materiality: light accumulated, time made visible. Each mark is a trace of attention, immediate yet slow, inviting sustained looking and contemplative space between analog touch and today.
