Laura Ahola-Young currently resides in Pocatello, Idaho where she is an Associate Professor of Art at Idaho State University. Originally from northern Minnesota, Laura has been influenced by landscapes, winters, ice and resilience. She is currently developing work that incorporates scientific investigations, personal narrative and meticulous mark making.

“I perceive the world as ambiguous and watching for nuances around me is where I find meaning- small, quiet moments or subtle changes. My work is grounded in my attempt to pay attention to signage in the natural world while capturing temporary phenomena, consciously and unconsciously transcribing patterns."
