Elena Godina
Elena Godina is a Ukrainian artist and brand designer based in the Bay Area. Born in a small town by the Black Sea in Crimea, she studied art and architecture in Kyiv, building a strong foundation in classical artistic education. After pursuing a career in design, she returned to her artistic roots, embracing a new creative chapter inspired by the nature of the Bay Area. Her large-format paintings transform California's diverse flora into bold explorations of color, form, and scale that challenge conventional representations of the natural world.
“My recent work intersects botanical reverence and geometric abstraction. I found myself captivated by California's coastal flora—so vastly different from my native Crimean coastline—that this cultural and environmental transition became the center point of my latest collection.
In my large-format paintings, I transform California's diverse flora into bold explorations of color, form, and scale, challenging conventional representations of the natural world.
I embrace unapologetically vibrant color relationships and high-contrast compositions—a bold approach that pushes away from chromatic safety and neutrality. I believe people often hide behind neutral shades or the forgiving black, while my work deliberately leans into high-energy, daring color combinations.”
