RICHARD MONINSKI
MFA, University at Albany (SUNY); BFA from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst; additional training in surface design, Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited nationally. A former New York City resident, he currently lives in Mineral Point, WI.
“My work explores several concurrent themes: the systematization of nature, the decorative impulse, the choices between representation and abstraction, and the significance of cultural artifacts. I juxtapose images of indigenous flora and fauna, man-made artifacts and stylized motifs derived from diverse decorative arts traditions.”
