“I paint large gestural abstractions in oil on linen.  The work is spontaneous and very immediate, often ‘alla prima’, with very little opportunity to revise. Landscape and the changing seasons influence the work. I am especially interested in the phenomenon of murmuration, which occurs among starlings in flight. I have observed similar patterns of movement in other species, specifically fish. This idea of individual parts comprising a pattern of wholeness has been part of my work for many years.”
