Corine van Hoeve
Corine van Hoeve is a contemporary Hamilton, Ontario, Canada-based painter who explores societal themes through observational work in oil, watercolour and handmade inks. She studied at the University of Toronto, Western University, the University of Guelph, and the Dundas Valley School of Art. Her work has been exhibited in Canada and the USA.
My paintings evoke private, personal spaces which are subtly linked to elsewhere: via a window, a doorway, a stairwell. The viewer is confined to a single vantage point, unable to see what lies beyond. These compartmentalized scenes reflect physical and social aspects of how we North Americans conduct our daily lives.
