Grier Torrence
Born in Mount Kisco, New York, I studied at Stanford University, Rhode Island School of Design BFA 1977 and Yale School of Art MFA 1981. I lived in Brooklyn, NY from 1985 to 1996 and worked at the Robert Schoelkopf Gallery and at Pratt Institute. I have been at Miss Porter's School since 1998.
My work is large scale figuration, a kind of journal of my experiences that finds some kind of composition and poetry of image. I continue to do plein air paintings as well.
